L.A.C.E.S and ECDC-ACC-DC Metro will be hosting a soccer tournament on the National Mall to integrate our communities and celebrate World Refugee Day, a day recognized by the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) each year. In a world where violence forces hundreds of families to flee each day, the UN Refugee Agency believes now is the time to demonstrate that the global public stands with Refugees.
ECDC ACC-DC Metro has helped over 2,000 refugees, asylees, and secondary immigrant visa holders achieve self-sufficiency in the Washington DC Metro Area. Organizers look forward to hearing back from you to address any interest a representative from your office has in attending the aforementioned event.
L.A.C.E.S leverages the power of sport to mentor at-risk youth, including refugee children. Forty-one percent of the world’s refugees are under the age of 18. Sport can reduce stress, stimulate mental well-being, and promote social integration and overall physical wellness. To date, L.A.C.E.S has run sports camps and leagues for refugee children in the Washington, D.C. metro area.
If interested in registering to play in the tournament please contact Tiana Gonzalez.
