Hunger Relief Committee

Hunger Free

As part of the Neighbors in Need Working Group, the Hunger Relief Committee seeks to reduce hunger by engaging and helping to empower faith communities, nonprofits, government officials, and other entities in collaborative study, education, action and advocacy. To achieve this goal, the committee

  • identifies key partners within government, nonprofits and faith communities who share our mission
  • creates an atmosphere of collaboration that raises expectations and increases leverage for constructive change
  • learns as much as possible about the realities of hunger, particularly in Montgomery County
  • develops educational materials and publicizes the realities of hunger and how to reduce it
  • facilitates hunger-related program integration that increases efficiency and effectiveness
  • has revived the Hunger Fund Drive as a means toward raising the public consciousness along with funds for reducing hunger
  • reports on our mission and goals, complete with substantive recommendations, to the County Executive at least twice a year.
